We’re thrilled to announce the release of BrightEarth On Demand v2.8.0-beta, a groundbreaking update available exclusively through our Early Adopters Program. This release showcases innovative features developed by our amazing R&D team at LuxCarta. Let’s dive into the highlights:
Augmented Buildings
The most anticipated feature in this release is Augmented Buildings, which transforms BrightEarth into a cutting-edge digital twin generator. Now, users can produce "augmented" buildings from BrightEarth’s AI-driven building extractions. This process leverages a sophisticated procedural generation engine that respects diverse architectural styles and global bioclimatic zones.
How it works:
- A post-processing step called “Augment Existing Extraction” enables this feature.
- Users receive an augmented building layer, downloadable directly in the 3D Tiles format.
Before and After Examples:
example: LOD1 Building Layer vs Augmented Layer
- Why “Augmented” Buildings? The geometry is not only textured but also enriched with plausible details that elevate the realism of 3D scenes. Stay tuned for an upcoming in-depth blog article on the sophisticated technology behind this process.
example : Textured building with roof augmented by geotypical 3D elements such as solar panels or satellite antenna
These 3D data are designed to be consumed in the most popular third-party platforms, such as 3D GIS software, simulation platforms or game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.

Large-Scale Computation
One of BrightEarth’s greatest strengths lies in its scalability. Deployed on a cloud-based, parallelized AWS infrastructure, BrightEarth can process massive areas just as effortlessly as smaller ones. While the Early Adopters Program currently limits usage to 50 sqkm, we’ve successfully tested extractions over large regions, even entire countries. If you have specific needs for extensive areas, contact our sales team today at sales@brightearth.ai.
Exemple of large scale production : Auckland City (1489km2 generated in less than 2 hours).
LuxCarta Global BaseMap Extraction
Another significant enhancement is the ability to extract and download content from the LuxCarta Global BaseMap, a 10m resolution dataset covering the entire planet. This feature enables users to acquire regional data as a cartographic context for their high-definition extractions.
Available Layers:
Extraction Options:
- A buffered area (minimum 50 km) around the AOI.
- A north-oriented bounding box around the buffered AOI (minimum 50km).
- A 1°x1° geocell centered on the AOI.
- All standard geocells intersecting the AOI.
Statistics on Fine-Tuned Mode
If you’ve already used our fine-tuning tool, you previously couldn’t see the performance gains achieved by fine-tuning the AI model. Now, you can view detailed performance statistics of the AI model before and after fine-tuning, allowing you to measure improvements and make data-driven decisions.
User Dashboard
The new User Dashboard offers a comprehensive view of your activities on BrightEarth. In future updates, this interface will evolve to provide granular control over calculation times and credit consumption, empowering users to optimize their workflows.
Additional Improvements
- Enhanced User Interface: Multiple refinements for a smoother user experience.
- Optimized Extraction Algorithms: Improved processing speeds to boost productivity.
Looking Ahead
We can’t wait to see how you leverage these exciting new features. As we approach the commercial launch in January 2025, get ready for even more enhancements, including the ability to purchase credits directly via credit card.
Thank you for being part of the BrightEarth journey. Together, we’re shaping the future of digital twin and geospatial technologies.
